Why Do we Exist?

What is our reason for being, core purpose. This has to be completely idealistic. What is the heart of what we do in MOMS?

  • We exist to promote the Gospel, especially in the hearts and lives of mothers of young children so that God may be glorified in their homes.

How do we behave? (What are our core values? Everything we do reflects our core values.)

  • We seek to be transparent, humble, teachable, loving, inclusive and welcoming, holding one another accountable, and to be lead by and submissive to the word of God.

What do we do?

  • We provide a setting for mothers to experience regular community and study that equips them to better live in light of the truth of the Gospel, and to influence all those around them with this truth.

  • We visit each newborn child of Redeemer members and present them with a small Bible with the child's name.

  • We intentionally seek to meet and invite women of young children and pregnant women, especially those new to Redeemer to come to our fellowship.

How will we succeed?

We will provide:

  • childcare so that mothers can freely fellowship and study
  • small group time of fellowship and prayer for one another
  • large group time for going over the lesson
  • study material based on scripture
  • after hours get togethers and opportunities to deepen friendships
  • Bibles for new babies born or adopted by Redeemer families

What is most important right now?

  • Find more mentors
  • Continue to recruit volunteers from MOMS and from the church at large to assist with Bible Club, a ministry focused child care meeting during MOMS Bible Study for children 4 and older

Who must do what?

  • The MOMS Bible study ministry team is made up of mentor leaders and young mothers working together to insure the ministry effectively meets the needs of young mothers and provides opportunities for young mothers to serve.
    • Mentors - co-lead small group fellowships, meet regularly to pray for the MOMS ministry and one another, and oversee one or more of the following: hospitality, Bibles for Babies, Ministry to school age children, publicity, and the curriculum and weekly teaching.

    • Ministry team members - help with the organization and leading of MOMS Bible Study in these ways:
      • Leadership: Leading a small group in fellowship and prayer
      • Teaching: Leading large group discussion once or possibly twice a year
      • Administration: Serving as registrar, keeping a current roster and assigning newcomers to small groups, setting up meal up plan for MOMS who have new babies
      • Ministry to School-Age Children: Provide supervision (rotating MOMS members and church volunteers) and ministry focused activities for children ages 4 and older while their mothers attend MOMS
      • Publicity: Posters in the nursery, lining up volunteers to man a table publicizing MOMS at the Inquire's SS class ministry fairs (once each spring and fall) and at the annual fish fry
      • Hospitality: Help with weekly refreshment set up and meeting and greeting, co-ordinate refreshment schedule, plan social events that include all MOMS Bible Study members (separate from small group social events)
