Steve Lanier | Assistant to the Pastor

Steve is a native of Rome, Georgia, where he attended Shorter College, receiving a Bachelor or Arts Degree in Communications. While completing his college courses, Steve served as a campus missionary with Youth for Christ. It was during this time that he met Sherry Chambers, a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Belhaven University. The two were married in 1977, and moved to Jackson the following year to continue their ministry with Youth for Christ. Steve later earned a Masters of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary, creating more avenues to work with teens and their families as a therapist and as a secondary drug and alcohol treatment provider. In 1997, Steve joined the ministry staff of Trinity Presbyterian Church, PCA, as the Director of Outreach & Missions. Since 2004, Steve has had the privilege of being a part of the ministry staff of Redeemer Church as the Assistant to the Pastor, where he serves in various roles primarily with our diaconal ministries, mercy ministries, missions ministries, pastoral care ministry and new ministry start-ups. In addition to his responsibilities at Redeemer, Steve serves as the adjunct faculty member at Belhaven University where he teaches Youth Ministry, Teaching Children the Bible, and New Testament Survey classes. Steve enjoys life with Sherry, being a parent and grandparent, live music concerts, travel - domestic and international, and other sundry adventures.
