WHAT TO EXPECT

SUNDAYS AT REDEEMER

WHEN ARE REDEEMER'S WORSHIP SERVICES?

We have two worship services held on Sunday mornings. The first, or 'Early Service' is at 8:00 am. And the second, or 'Late Service' is at 11:00 am.

WHERE IS REDEEMER JACKSON LOCATED?

Our church is located on  640 Northside Drive drive in the Broadmore/ Broadmeadow neighborhood, East of State Street. You can find directions to us here.

Parking: You are welcome to park in Redeemer's main parking lot on the west side of the church or in the small lot in the back. There is also street parking available in the surrounding neighborhood, if there are no spaces available in the lot.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO SUNDAY SERVICES?

We are an intentionally multi-ethnic, cross-cultural, socio-economically diverse church. And we think you'll find the attire as varied as our congregants. Some are comfortable wearing a suit and tie, and others wear jeans and a t-shirt. It is our desire that clothing would not be an obstacle to you attending our church, so come comfortably to worship with us and find a home among God's people.

WHAT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES DO YOU OFFER?

Our early service begins at 8:00 am. During the 8:00 service, there is a children's church-- Music and age-appropriate teaching for 4 year old's through Kindergarten to help children begin to transition into the sanctuary for Lord’s Day worship. If your child would like to participate, climb the stairs with our volunteers during our 8:00 am worship service to join the class.

In between the 8:00 service and the 11:00 service is a time of fellowship and coffee in the downstairs gathering area, as well as Sunday school classes that begin at 9:45. We offer 5 different adult classes, as well as age appropriate, small-group Bible teaching for children ages 4 and up. You can find more information about what classes we offer on our Sunday School Page.

We also offer an Inquirer's Class for people who are interested in learning more about the vision and mission of Redeemer church, and is required for all who are planning on becoming a member. Find out about the next Inquirer's class here.

WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?

We love to see families together in worship. You are always welcome to worship together as a family at Redeemer!

But we’ve also created a safe, Christ- centered, nurturing environment for your children during the worship service. We offer a nursery for children 4 years old and younger, that spans both services as well as the Sunday School hour. In addition to that, as mentioned above, during our early service, we have a children's church program for 4-5 year old's that begins just before the sermon.

In our interaction and teaching, those serving in the nursery strive to be a witness to Christ by setting before the children a Godly example and by training them to know and love our Lord and to serve in His Kingdom through the use of their gifts. We seek to be warm, loving, and hospitable--modeling the love of Christ not only to visiting children, but to their parents and families as well, keeping in mind that to welcome these little ones is to welcome Christ Himself.

For help finding & navigating the nursery, see our nursery information page.

NURSING MOTHERS?

We love having our mothers with newborns come and worship with us, and to make that easier we have provided a nursing room/ cry room in the back of the sanctuary on the second floor balcony.

WHAT ABOUT THE WORSHIP SERVICE?

A frequent question about a multi-ethnic church like Redeemer is, “What do your worship services look like?” This is a good question, since many people would think that the worship styles of a Presbyterian church and of a traditional African American church would clash. It is our intention, however, that as our membership blends the cultures of our city that our worship services would also blend the worship styles of its people. While holding to a worship that is guided by the Scriptures and focused on the who God is and what He has done in Jesus Christ, we hope to develop an authentic worship style that both honors God as well as expresses the hearts of the community of believers represented in our church. This is Redeemer’s offering of praise and worship that is designed to allow those who visit to be drawn into the presence of the living God and not be distracted by one set of specific cultural distinctives.

In all our worship services, the expository preaching of the Word of God will be held in a prominent place.  Along with the preaching of the Word, we will recite our historic creeds and confessions, expressing everyone’s need for a Savior and a right relationship with God that can only be found through trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.  It is our desire that everyone who attends our services is able to say, “Today, I have been in the presence of God.”

ARE THERE SUNDAY SMALL GROUPS FOLLOWING THE WORSHIP SERVICE?

We do encourage you to get involved with one of our small groups, aka growth groups. There are growth groups that meet on Sunday afternoons all across the Jackson Metro area. (Some groups meet on Wednesdays as well.) You can find more information about these groups, and find one nearest you on our Growth Groups page.

We invite you to come and worship with us this Sunday. We are confident that you will find many familiar components in the service, preaching that is both practical and challenging for your daily life, and fellow believers who will offer you a warm welcome.
